FAQs
Why does my pediatrician's office have a behavioral health program?
We take pride in our proactive, preventive approach to children's health. We understand that it's not just about fostering healthy bodies; we also strive to support our children in growing up to be socially and emotionally resilient. We have launched Trekwise so that we can help our families with both physical and social-emotional wellness.
Who is our Trekwise program for?
Our program supports families with children aged 4 to 18 who would like help navigating behavioral, social and emotional concerns. Common concerns include ADHD, anxiety, anger, resilience, depression, substance use, grief, school anxiety, screen time, sibling rivalry, social skills, stress management
and tantrums.
How does Trekwise help children?
Trekwise supports kids by working with the people who are in kids lives for the long-term - their parents or caregivers. We want to empower the adults in our children's lives with the knowledge, skills and tools to be the front line for help both now and down the road. When appropriate, Trekwise works directly with teens who need a space of their own. Our team based care model includes a behind-the-scenes consulting team with a psychiatrist, clinical and school psychologist, enabling us to address many behavioral and medication concerns directly within our program.
When is Trekwise a good fit for families?
Trekwise is beneficial for families in three situations:
- Parents or teens have concerns about social, emotional, or behavioral well-being.
- Families need assistance in finding a suitable behavioral health therapist, program or psychiatrist.
- Parents are seeking ways to reduce parenting stress and enhance enjoyment with their children/teens.
How do I get started with Trekwise?
Families can discuss Trekwise with their provider. If parents would
like to move forward with the program, they can either self-schedule their first telehealth appointment or reach out to the Trekwise intake team for more information.
Intake conversations are free of charge if a family does not continue with the program.
What happens next?
Families meet regularly with their Parenting Specialist for up to three hours of care time per enrolled child each month. Care time includes direct telehealth visits and behind-the-scenes care coordination and consultation. Typically parents and/or teens have weekly 20-30 minute calls to enhance skills and improve children's social-emotional health.
These calls help families apply Trekwise Learning Sheets (a customizable set of proven tools for strengthening children's emotional well-being) into their unique situation.
