Heidi's Letter to Patients
Dear PPSW families,
I hope this finds you and your family well at this unprecedented time!
It is with mixed emotions that I am writing to share with you my upcoming transition. After nearly a decade at Pediatric Partners of the Southwest, having had the honor of sharing in your lives as your child’s pediatrician, I am embarking on a new journey aimed at closing community gaps with regard to pediatric behavioral health.
While at PPSW, I have had the pleasure of working with an amazing team in the development of an integrated behavioral health program to address whole-child care in the context of family. This experience has given me a clear picture of the need for a center for pediatric behavioral health and wellness.
To this end, I am starting the Child Wellness Center of the Southwest as a place to both assess and address the behavioral health needs of children in our community. This concept emerged out of partnerships with local youth serving organizations and school districts as we strive to foster a community of thriving, resilient youth.
Currently I am seeing children exclusively for neurodevelopmental or behavioral health concerns one day a week at PPSW. These include learning differences, ADHD, Tic disorders, OCD, Anxiety, depression, Autism or any other social-emotional challenges.
While you might occasionally see me at PPSW filling in as a general pediatrician, it will be very important to establish with one of my stellar colleagues at PPSW for your child’s general health care needs.
I am currently working on a website and portal. For new patients, please see your PPSW primary care provider to discuss a referral to Dr. McMillan. If your child is an existing patient and you would like to schedule a behavioral health appointment, need a behavioral health medicine refill or have questions, please send me a message at my secure email:
If I do not see you at the Child Wellness Center, I hope to see you on the trails someday! Thank you for allowing me into your lives over the years. It has truly been a privilege.
Stay well and be safe!
Heidi McMillan, MD
